In the land of the certain, a young girl lies. Questioning, beseeching, arguing, she vows to break the status quo but remains opposed at every turn.
In the land of the certain, the girl has knowledge, but also, curiosity. She has answers, but still questions. In this land, this young girl tries.
The land of the living
If the world, as a whole is a round mass of gas,
And our purpose in life is not to sit down and ask
Why this gaseous world seems to constantly turn;
Then, what is it?
If we are shunned as a babe, to sit still and comply,
But forced information down our mouths, told ‘dear, don’t cry’;
Asked to analyse but only with the things that you are told-
Then how, may I ask, will we ever become bold?
It does not make sense to tell stories of glamour and growth,
If we are only bound to one story, shunned in our oath
To educate, work, marry and become old;
Then why, live at all?
No wonder you have generations growing up,
With doubts in their hearts, sweet lies in their sup
Perhaps this control is what you wanted all along-
Then why, speak of freedom, my folks?
We are young, we are foolish, we need to make mistakes;
But perfection is all you want, there are no other takes-
If life was a movie, you’d want it picture perfect.
But we aren’t, then living, are we?
Our mental and physical structure decays,
As we continue to do one thing for all of our days.
We have fit into your mould, please spare us this much;
Then when, will we finally get your approval?
You need to understand,Our mental health is in your hand.
One word of support is all that we need;
Then, trust me, we can finally grow and succeed.
This life that we live, it is not yours.
Yes true, you’ve been steering, you’ve been holding the oars;
But I beg of you now, please let go,
Then, we can make our mistakes and be happy.
In the land of the certain, a young girl knows. That in this land is precisely where she can grow. Her mental health feels less lost than before. Not because of her own questions, but because she found why. Why all of this matters, why all she needed was- support from her
